FEASIBILITY

AIMM Feasibility Study

Not sure which inspection method will find the defects that matter on your part? Send us representative samples. At the AIMM Center in Ogden, Utah, our Level III team evaluates them with the methods most likely to work, from phased array and laser ultrasonics to shearography, photothermal tomography, thermography and CT, and gives you a clear, documented recommendation.

How It Works

1

Tell us about the part

Complete the request form with the material, layup, geometry, the defects you are concerned about and any governing specification.

2

Send representative samples

Ship parts or coupons, ideally with known or seeded defects, along with drawings or a defect map. We will confirm scope, timing and any cost before work begins.

3

Multi-method evaluation

We inspect the samples with the candidate methods at the AIMM Center, comparing detectability, coverage, speed and practicality for your production or field environment.

4

Report and recommendation

You receive a report with images and data from each method, a detectability assessment by defect type, and a recommended method, equipment and procedure path.

What You Receive

  • A written feasibility report with inspection images and data from each method evaluated.
  • A detectability assessment showing which methods found which defects, and where each fell short.
  • A clear recommendation: the method, equipment configuration and procedure path best suited to your part.
  • Next-step options: scan-as-a-service at the AIMM Center, equipment through our partner portfolio, procedure development, and technician training.

What to Send

  • Representative parts or coupons, with known or seeded defects where possible
  • Drawings, a defect map, or photos of areas of concern
  • Material, layup and core information
  • Any applicable inspection specification or acceptance criteria
